Amy Curzon RN BN

My name is Amy Curzon. I am a Registered Nurse currently working in Professional Practice at Halton Healthcare. I have been a registered nurse for 20 years and have worked in a vast array of areas.  My love has always been the emergency room and I continue to work in that area today in a leadership capacity.

The purpose of this e-portfolio will be to share information with the nurses I serve as well as the other professional practice clinicians within my circle. My goal for this page is that both inexperienced and veteran staff within the organization will be able to use it, and easily link to best practice guidelines, tutorials and self-guided learning packages for each unit or department.

 

As a Professional Practice clinician for the emergency department, medical surgical unit, as well as the close observation unit within the Georgetown Hospital I have several responsibilities. I provide orientation to all newly hired nurses for each department on an individual basis as well as taking part in the corporate orientation of all nurses hired within the organization.

I personally belong to two professional organizations, the College of Nurses of Ontario as well as the Registered Association of Ontario. Corporately I am a member of the Professional Practice Network of Ontario and Emergency Nurses Association of Ontario.

Within the province of Ontario there are 34 different health units. These units are served by Public Health Ontario. Halton Healthcare is part of the Halton Region Public Health, as a nurse I am employed by the hospital however, our guidelines for infectious disease reporting, treatment and IPAC standards among many other publicly reportable instances are governed by public health.
